Horseracing fans got an extra show at the 2014 Breeders' Cup World Championships on Saturday when actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth performed before the big race.

Chenoweth, best known for her roles on Broadway and on TV shows like Glee and Pushing Daisies, sang The Best Is Yet To Come with a stunning backdrop behind her.

The 46-year-old singer's voice rang out just before the running of the $5 million Classic, the biggest race of the day.

NBC covered the event at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California and aired Kristin's singing as part of its overall coverage.

Immediately after Chenoweth sang, Bayern took the title in the big race's photo finish, narrowly beating Toast Of New York and the favourite, California Chrome.

Later in the day, Kristin hung out with another musical legend, Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi.

Other stars who turned out included Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks, Food Network host Giada De Laurentiis and actress Bo Derek.

Great setting: With a natural backdrop enhancing the show, Chenoweth sang the Frank Sinatra classic, The Best Is Yet To Come
